Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong. Ecc. 5:1

Watch How You Approach God

When we come before God, whether in corporate or personal worship, we must be careful how we approach Him. He is our Father and our Savior. He is Kind, Merciful, Gracious, etc. But that does not give us the liberty to come before Him anyhow we choose. He is God who is Holy and will not compromise His standard.

Moses, the meekest man that ever lived and with whom God spoke face to face, was denied entry into the Promised land for one act of dishonor to God. David, a man after God’s heart and called a friend of God, got punished for a sinful act. Coming before God should always be with great joy and freedom yet must be balanced with holy and reverential fear birthed in humility. Unless we honor and reverence God with sincere hearts, our worship will be in vain and pass for a sacrifice of fools. Let us worship God in an acceptable way.
