Pray for Democratic Elections, Standards & Monitoring in Nigeria on February 16th and March 2nd

by Joanna  Bogunjoko | As you may know, Leah, Alice and many others are still in Boko Haram’s captivity. Please continue to pray for their release. Rev. Gideon Para-Mallam has done a lot to raise prayers on their behalf and to reach out to the government to do more in getting them released. President Muhammadu Buhari [Photo: The News (Nigeria)]

Happy New Year! I trust that you had a wonderful Christmas and a restful holiday season with family and friends. May we have a joy, peace, mercy and grace filled year 2019 and many more.

I would like to thank you all for your prayers for Nigeria, your guidance on who I need to connect with to see that justice is done and to see that the upcoming elections are monitored. God bless you all!

As you may know, Leah, Alice and many others are still in Boko Haram’s captivity. Please continue to pray for their release. Rev. Gideon Para-Mallam has done a lot to raise prayers on their behalf and to reach out to the government to do more in getting them released.

May I beseech you to please pray fervently for the upcoming Nigerian elections (Presidential on February 16th and Governorship on March 2nd). May He in His infinite mercies guide and direct the electorate so that they could cast their ballots rightly in order to elect a credible candidate.

See below a list of election monitoring agencies sent to me that you can implore to go and monitor the elections. I believe that as God used King Artaxerxes of Persia to help Nehemiah rebuild Israel and its walls, He can also use anyone to rebuild Nigeria.

May the Lord bless you all and meet your every need according to His riches in glory. Thank you very much for your support.

Prevailing Prayers of the Bible and Relentless Faith

by Pastor Kimberly Ray’s | Relentless faith is faith in the Lord that is unshakable, unstoppable, and unmovable.

I remember having the privilege to stand at the Ancient Wailing Wall to pray. Honestly, I sensed an indescribable awe as I witnessed people praying. I observed a fascinating tradition, people placing slips of paper with prayer requests into the crevices of the Wailing Wall. This was an astonishing indication of their passion expressed to God through prayer.

The Lord has given me a wonderful desire to share with the body of Christ the remarkable prayers of the Bible. This book is designed to share scriptural dialogue spoken from individuals recorded in the sacred pages of the Bible.

Relentless Faith
What is relentless faith? It is the kind of faith that resists the desire to concede to current circumstances, but rather this kind of faith chooses to believe the Word of God. The Word of God is the answer to life’s dilemmas. Relentless faith is faith in the Lord that is unshakable, unstoppable, and unmovable. This faith is never dependent upon our own abilities, or ourselves, it is a tenacious determination to emb

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

by Joshua and Joanna Bogunjoko | What a privilege it is to serve together with you in God’s mission through SIM. Thank you for your sacrificial gifts and support for us as a family and for SIM ministries around the world.

This year, untold numbers of new believers will spend their first Christmas worshiping Jesus. Not one of them had a star or an angel to summon them to Christ. They had a missionary, a local Christian worker, a friend, a family member or a neighbor. You all have been part of the team that has supported us to make Christ known where He is least known. As a result of your participation in the gospel through your partnership with SIM, there are many who this year have come to faith in Jesus and will join in celebrating the greatest gift on earth for the first time.

What a privilege it is to serve together with you in God’s mission through SIM. Thank you for your sacrificial gifts and support for us as a family and for SIM ministries around the world.  We praise God for you and your role in making disciples for Christ in communities where he is least known.
May your hearts be lifted in praise this Christmas for the wonderful gift of Jesus and the joy He brings to our lives, for He is Emmanuel, God with us.

Thank God with us that Joel’s semester ended well and he did amazingly well academically. Praise God for answered prayers for him and give thanks that Jochebed could be home for Christmas. We are glad that we could all be together for Christmas. Thank you for your love and prayers.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

May you experience the fullness of all the joy that Christ brought to our world this season. And, wishing you a Happy New Year!

Please pray for our leaders!

by Joshua and Joanna Bogunjoko | But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.” —  Exodus 18:21.
Happy Thanksgiving to  those in the United States! Three of us in our family (Joanna, Joel and Joshua) joined friends at the home of our dear friends the Ogunros to celebrate the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness over the past year. It is always good to get together with friends and family to give thanks to the Lord. Jochebed celebrated her Thanksgiving by volunteering to serve the homeless in San Francisco. It is a very special way to give thanks to the Lord for all He has given to us by giving to others.

This is a special request for prayers as we (Joshua and Joanna) leave on Monday morning for Kenya. We will be getting together with the new SIM International Leadership Team for a week of fellowship, training and also meetings. This is a very important meeting for Joshua and his team especially because this is the first time that the new teams, his six Executive Team (ET) members and his larger International Leadership Team (ILT), will be getting together since the new structure came into effect in October. We invite you to join us in prayer through this time together. Members of the team started arriving in Nairobi on Saturday, the meetings start this Tuesday night and will finish next week Tuesday.

Please pray for safe travel for all those who will be traveling to this meeting.
Pray for a good fellowship and a spirit of unity in all that we would share, learn and discuss.
Pray for the Holy Spirit’s work in our midst and in each of us, that our hearts will be in tune with the Lord’s. “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23
Pray for David Sherbino who will be teaching on “the spiritual formation of a leader”. Pray that the Lord will speak through him and that our hearts will be open to what the Lord wants to teach us. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” — Psalm 32:8
Pray for good health for everyone throughout the meeting.
Pray for the families that each of us will be leaving behind in our various homes that the Lord will watch over them.
Pray that we will be able to focus on our time together and we will not be distracted by any emergencies in our personal lives or in our mission as a whole.
Pray that this meeting will give us a good foundation to serve as a team, to serve SIM well and to serve our Lord with commitment, grace and love for Him and for one another.
Please pray for a leadership rooted in righteousness, integrity, capability and hearts seeking to delight in the Lord!

Thank you for joining us in prayer. Please remember us each day through this week and the next.

“And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.” — Psalm 78:72

Praising God for His goodness!

by Joshua and Joanna Bogunjoko | “Praise him—he is your God, and you have seen with your own eyes the great and astounding things that he has done for you.” Deuteronomy 10:21

We praise God for being so good to us. He has shown us His great mercy and answered our prayers. In our last prayer letters we asked you to pray for our children. They are both doing amazingly well and we praise God for answering prayers.

Jochebed is doing well and shining the light of Christ as she works hard to handle the pressures around her. Praise God with us that Joel’s scholarship has been restored. This was a major point of prayer and the Lord has honored our prayers. Thank you for praying with us. Also, he has been given an accommodation in his studies to enable him to work at a healthy and suitable pace. He has a better outlook on the future now. We spent Sunday afternoon with him and were touched by his bright spirit and growing maturity.

Thank you also for praying for our trips to Kenya and the Philippines which went well. We were truly blessed to be able to spend time with SIM workers in medical ministries and our team in the Philippines. We are encouraged by their dedication and commitment to making Christ known in communities where He is least known even when it is not convenient or totally “safe”.

Thank you and God bless you!

We proclaim how great you are and tell of the wonderful things you have done.” Psalm 75:1.

Praying on for His Grace and Mercy!

by Joshua and Joanna Bogunjoko | “We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.”Daniel 9:18

Prayer is both marvelous and mysterious. The idea of communicating with the Creator of the universe seems almost ludicrous. And certainly presumptuous. Not to mention intimidating.”

This statement by Lori Hatcher on Crosswalk.com is so true as we await being able to travel to Kenya for an SIM Healthcare Conference and Leadership Initiative due to the uncertainties surrounding the Hurricane Florence. The organizers and some of the participants are already there but some of us are still in the US watching the turn of events in the wake of Hurricane Florence. We have had to change our flights a couple of times and are hoping that Joshua can leave on Saturday while Joanna follows on Tuesday. Joel is home from school as the University of South Carolina campus is closed and classes are cancelled through Monday. They anticipate resuming normal operations on Tuesday pending government direction. We are praying and eagerly anticipating God answering the prayers of many to protect lives and properties. Please pray along with us!

Thank you so much for praying for us and especially Joel and Jochebed as you read about them in our last prayer letter. Many of you responded with words of encouragement, prayers and great generosity. Joel started the semester well and with a great outlook for which we are thankful. He is happier and is more positive about his classes. Please continue to pray that God will perfect what He has started. Also remember to continue praying for the appeal that we sent for his scholarship as the decision making/proceedings have now started. We are still waiting for their response.

Jochebed moved to a new 1 bedroom apartment from a studio apartment in a bad part of town and is settling in well. She is as busy as ever and we appreciate prayers for strength, wisdom and success in all her endeavors and give thanks for her safety while she lived at her old place.

We were in International Leadership Team and Board of Governors’ meetings during the last two weeks. The two meetings went well and everyone has returned to their destinations safely. Praise God with us for unity that was evident as they met and deliberated on issues affecting SIM. Pray that God will establish all He has helped them to decide upon.

Pray for the SIM Healthcare Conference and Leadership Initiative starting on September 16 in Kenya and that all will go well.

We will take a week of rest/holiday after the conference and then go on to the Philippines for SIM Philippines Spiritual Life Conference (SLC). Please pray that God will speak through Joshua as he will be speaking both in Kenya and in the Philippines. Pray that God will meet everyone at their point of need.

Thank you for always being there for us in prayers and for your support.

Convinced that no one should live and die without hearing God’s good news, we believe that He has called us to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in communities where He is least known.

31 Day Prayer Guide For ECWA

A 31 DAY PRAYER GUIDE FOR EVANGELICAL CHURCH WINNING ALL (ECWA)
Day 1
Text (s) Acts 15:26
Paul and Barnabas were described as men who risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer Item:
Thank God for our founding fathers and early missionaries, Walter Gowans, Thomas Kent and Rowland Bingham, men who risked their lives to bring us the gospel.

Day 2
Text (s) 2 Timothy 1:5-6
I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

Prayer Item:
Many ECWA members are third or even fourth generation Christians because our ancestors accepted the gospel from the Western Missioners and worked so hard to spread it and pass it on to subsequent generations. Thank God for our ancestors who worked so hard with the Western Missionaries and passed on the godly legacy to us.

Day 3
Text (s) Isaiah 26:12, Psalm 115:1
Isa 26:12: Lord, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us.
Ps 115: Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.

Prayer Item:
ECWA has witnessed tremendous progress spiritually and especially numerically, materially and financially, since it was started in 1893. It is God who has accomplished it for us. And all the glory belongs to Him. Praise and thank God for the progress till date.

Day 4
Text (s) 2nd Corinthians 10:12, Matthew 5:48
2 Cor 10:12 : We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.
Matt 5:4: Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Prayer Item:
Much as we have made tremendous progress in ECWA, we should make God our standard and not ourselves or other people. God’s standard is perfection and by God’s standard, we still are very far short of what we should be as individuals and as a church especially spiritually, but also physically and even materially and financially. We should confess and repent of our short comings and sins.

Day 5
Text (s) Zechariah 12 :10,
And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication.

Prayer Item:
The Zechariah prophesy concerns Israel in the end time. God’s promise is that He will pour out a Spirit of grace and supplication, such that the Israelites will mourn and repent of their sins. We in ECWA should pray for this blessing and plead with God to pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication upon ECWA Churches and members, such that there will be deep conviction of our sins, sincere repentance and powerful prayers and intercessions.

Day 6
Text (s) 2nd Chronicles 7:14
2 Chronicles 7:14-15: If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Prayer Item:
Pray for the Spirit of humility to permeate ECWA churches and members, for us to fully respond to God’s grace and sincerely repent from our sins, so that God will be pleased to move and heal not just our church but the entire nation through ECWA.

Day 7
Text (s) Isaiah 62:6-7
I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.

Prayer Item:
Pray that God will raise watchmen for ECWA, men and women who will never be silent day or night, but will continue to call on the Lord , not resting and giving God no rest, till He establishes ECWA and makes her the glorious church that He wants us to be.

Day 8
Text (s) Psalm 110:3
In that day of your power your people shall come to you willingly, dressed in holy altar robes. And your strength shall be renewed day by day like morning dew.

Prayer Item:
Pray that God will move in His supernatural power to make ECWA Churches and members willing to do His will in all aspects of our lives. Pray that God will overrule those who refuse to respond to His will and for Him to graciously handle those who oppose His will His own way.

Day 9
Text (s) Psalm 85:6
Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

Prayer Item:
The key to a glorious ECWA is revival. Pray that God will send down great revival in ECWA.

Day 10
Text (s) Ezekiel 37:12-13
Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.

Prayer Item:
Many of us in ECWA and many of our churches are ‘dead and buried’ in so many aspects. Pray that the Spirit of God would move over the graveyards of our lives, families and churches and open them up for ‘resurrections’ in various aspects.

Day 11
Text (s) Ezekiel 37:3-8
“Son of man, can these bones live?”……Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.'”

Prayer Item:
Pray that God’s mighty Spirit would cause His breathe and life to flow into the dry bones of our lives, families and churches in ECWA and restore us to wholeness, body, soul and spirit.

Day 12
Text (s) Ezekiel 37:10
So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet — a vast army.

Prayer Item:
Pray that God would build us in ECWA into a vast, mighty and powerful army of the Lord for advancement and expansion of His Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven, especially through Evangelism and Missions.

Day 13
Text (s) Matthew 16:18
I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Prayer Item:
Pray that as God’s mighty army of ECWA advances for the expansion of God’s Kingdom here on earth, that God would bring His promise to fulfillment and the gates of hades shall give way. Pray that the gates of Hades shall give way in our lives, families and churches in Jesus name!

Day 13
Text (s) Matthew 11:12, Luke 4:18-19
Matthew 11:12: And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
Luke 4:18-19: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Prayer Item:
Pray that God would endue His mighty army with the Spirit’s anointing of Spiritual violence against the devil and His hordes, that He would continue by His Holy Spirit to use us ECWA members as instruments to set the captives free from bondage to sin and satan.

Day 14
Text (s) Luke 3:16-17
John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Prayer Item:
The fire of the Holy Spirit is for the purpose of judgment for unbelievers, but for refining and purification purposes for believers. Pray that God would ignite His holy fires in ECWA and for the wind of the Spirit to blow them into flames that would refine and purify us from our sins and make us sanctified vessels of honour that God would be pleased to use for the glory of His name.

Day 15
Text (s) 1 John 3:8-9
He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

Prayer Item:
Sin gives the devil a chance to cause a lot of havoc in our lives and the church and prolonged sinning can even give him a foothold and enable him to build strongholds in our lives, families and churches. Pray that as the spirit of repentance sweeps through the church, that the Lord Jesus would move powerfully in our individual lives, families and churches, to destroy the devil’s works in any form.

Day 16
Text (s) Colossians 2:15
Having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Prayer Item:
Christ Jesus has already won the victory for us and made us not just victorious but more than conquerors (Romans 8:31-39). Pray that the resurrection power would be powerfully manifested in our lives, families and the entire ECWA Church and the devil, in whatever way or form he comes, would be openly put to shame in Jesus name.

Day 17
Text (s) John 7:38
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Prayer Item:
Pray that God would so fill us in ECWA with His Holy Spirit that out of us shall flow rivers of Living water and these rivers would combine to form a great river that flows to the vast sea of humanity in need of Christ Jesus.

Day 18
Text (s) Isaiah 43 :18, Psalm 130:3, Ps 103:12-14, 1 John 1:8-10
Isaiah 43 :18 : “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
Ps 130:3: If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?
Ps 103:12-14: as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
1 John 1:8-10: If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Prayer Item:
We and our leaders have made terrible mistakes in the past and grossly sinned against God. Having confessed our sins and repented, let us pray for the grace of God not to dwell on the past and be discouraged by false guilt and regreats of lost opportunities, but for complete freedom to enjoy God in the present and the future.

Day 19
Text (s) Isaiah 43 :18, Haggai 2:3-4
Isaiah 43 :18 : “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
Haggai 2:3-4: ‘Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing?

Prayer Item:
We and our leaders have made terrible mistakes in the past and grossly sinned against God. Having confessed our sins and repented, let us pray for the grace of God not to dwell on the past glory of ECWA, but to believe God for today and future, to glorify Himself in our lives families and Churches in a much greater way than ever before.

Day 20
Text (s) Isaiah 43 :19
See, I am doing a new thing! …… I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Prayer Item:
Pray that God would do a new thing in our lives, families and all our ECWA Churches. Pray that God would make ways for us where there are no ways and cause His streams to flow for the restoration of all areas of our lives that have hitherto lied waste spiritually, physically and materially/financially.

Day 21
Text (s) Isaiah 43 :19
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Prayer Item:
Do you not perceive it? God is already answering our prayers and doing new things. Praise God by faith for the new things He is doing in our lives, families and ECWA churches and wait expectantly for the manifestations.

Day 22
Text (s) Ezekiel 47:1-6
I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east …… the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in — a river that no one could cross. He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?

Prayer Item:
What God had earlier shown Prophet Ezekiel in a vision, of a mighty river flowing from God’s throne of grace is the same River that the Lord Jesus spoke about in John 7:38 that would flow out of all those who would believe in Him. Amazingly, the same river flowed in the Garden of Eaden (Genesis 2:10-14) and right now is flowing in heaven! It is the mighty River of God, the River of the Holy Spirit, the River of Living waters! Pray that this River would flow mightily in our lives, families and churches!

Day 23
Text (s) Ezekiel 47:7-9
He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Sea. When it empties into the Sea, the water there becomes fresh. Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows.

Prayer Item:
This River of God gives life to the dead. Pray that as the River flows in our lives, families and churches, whatever is dead shall come alive! Pray especially for the salvation of our loved ones and nominal Christians and church goers alike in our ECWA Churches.

Day 24
Text (s) Ezekiel 47:7-9, Gen 2:11-12 , Rev 21:21 -Rev 22:1-2
Ezekiel :47:7-9: Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds — like the fish of the Great Sea. But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt. Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail.
