For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ … Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate. Mat. 19:5-6

Before You Marry, Consider These Verses

I hate divorce, says the Lord God of Israel …” (Mal. 2:16). “… A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife” (1Cor. 7:10-11). “… a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him” (Rom. 7:2).

Here are some facts to think about:

  1. God is the one who joins every marriage – Christian or non-Christian.
  2. The man and woman become one, and no one has the right to separate them, not the couple.
  3. Should they separate or even divorce, they cannot remarry.
  4. Death of a spouse is the only gateway to remarry.

Where an unbelieving spouse walks away or in a case of marital infidelity, the other spouse is free, but no definitive statement that they can remarry. Count the cost before you marry.
